Why Draw?

8/16/2026

Picture
When I studied art at university (many moons ago) drawing was encouraged and it continues to be an important part of my art practice to this day. I really love getting out into the landscape and doing some drawing or quick mixed media studies. I then come home and in the following days often create more mixed media studies while the memory of the places I have sat and absorbed are fresh. I have added these to my works on paper section in this website Works on Paper

Drawings don't have to be 'perfect' or finished as such and this allows a lot of exploration and spontaneity. Achieving a feeling of energy and mystery into my work is a constant focus and drawing offers a huge amount of freedom to do this.

    Author

I am an artist & printmaker. I live in the Grampians region Victoria, Australia. My art, in particular printmaking is a key focus in my life and sustains me through many difficult days and nights due to a condition known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, see my website www.crps247.com. I believe art nourishes the soul and enriches our lives, something that material wealth fails to do.
