2015 New Work

'Industrial Across the Bay' -monoprint 2015. Inspired by observations and sketches of Corio Bay Geelong
Check out my other New Work for 2015 . I am using my new Caligo Safe Wash inks and loving them, they are easy to work with and cleaning up is as easy as it gets -you just use detergent and then warm water. The inks dry well and suit my multi-plate techniques. This new monoprint utilizes an aluminum plate which I first engrave and draw into with dry point tools. It is printed on Somerset satin white hot pressed 300gm paper.

'Gone'-oil pastel
The last 3 months have been a time for new drawings using symbolism and colour to explore feelings including loss, grief, hope and renewal; here are two examples that may or may not translate into prints in the future, I have no need at present to stop drawing, it is so immediate.

Art can deliver insights....

6/10/2013

Art can deliver insights that are sometimes haunting, sometimes uplifting - into the experiences and emotions of the artists.

Today, in the Age, I read an interview transcript by Michael Short of  Dr Eugen Koh: 'Stigma is one of the biggest barriers to early intervention.' the full transcript of which, as well as a short video statement, is at www.theage.com.au/opinion/the-zone, Koh explains how and why using art is improving the lives of many people throughout Australia.
For the past 12 years, psychiatrist and psychotherapist Dr Eugen Koh has been director of the Dax Centre, an independent non-profit organisation situated in the grounds of University of Melbourne. The centre is home to the Cunningham Dax Collection, 15,000 works of art by people who have experienced mental health issues and/or trauma. It is one of the few heritage-listed art collections in Australia. http://www.daxcentre.org/collection/

I hope others find these links not only interesting but also thought provoking in a positive way; I certainly did.

I am an artist & printmaker. I live in the Grampians region Victoria, Australia. My art, in particular printmaking is a key focus in my life and sustains me through many difficult days and nights due to a condition known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, see my website www.crps247.com. I believe art nourishes the soul and enriches our lives, something that material wealth fails to do.
